I upgraded to 3.1 and tried to run the setup assistant to create the TV Guide account. In setup assistant, I get to the point where you enter your activation key and it won't let me go any further. I enter my key, but the 'Next' button stays gray and I can't go any further.

I have a 250 Plus, connected to cable.

You are either entering your activation key incorrectly, or the key is not for EyeTV 3.

Either way, send your key to sales@elgato.com for assistance. Before you do, you should look at this article:

No TV Guide Listings

Postby davezatz » January 21st, 2009, 1:21 am

I can't get any TV Guide listings.

I re-ran the setup wizard, created the TV Guide account, and for the last several hours the guide has remained blank with instructions to re-run the setup wizard - which I've tried, as well as a reboot, relaunches, etc. In the Eye TV preferences panel, when I try to manually update it spins for awhile, says downloading, and finishes with a "Update failed due to a server error."

Anyone else having this problem?

You might try clearing the EPG database, then updating the Guide again.

For users moving from EyeTV 3.0.4 to 3.1, who have problems with TV Guide access, please first try the steps in this article:

http://support.elgato.com/index.php?_m= ... ishdefault

If that doesn't help, then we'll need more information about your situation, that you can supply via http://support.elgato.com , Submit a Ticket.

We would also like you to send us more information about your Mac, via the support ticket.

1) Choose About This Mac from the Apple Menu.
2) Press the More Info... button to start the System Profiler application
3) Select Save As... from the File Menu
4) Save the report as System-Profiler 4.0 (XML) format
5) Attach this file to your support ticket

Manually deleting the guide db files, then re-running the setup wizard took care of it. Thanks!

I feel dumb. I completely forgot that I upgraded from version 2 and had a different key than what was on my card. I checked through my old email and found the version 3 code.

Thanks for the help.

I just want to say I'm thrilled with the new TV Guide.

I had some difficulties with the update. I had to go back through the setup and find my registration key. I also couldn't get the new guide to work and didn't think to come here for the solution. So I re-ran the Auto-Tune in the channels window and that made it all work.

The hassle was well worth it because this guide is a huge improvement for getting schedules to Comcast's digital cable in Oregon.

I need tips on how to export 720p video capture files I captured with the HD-PVR and how to get the best HD quality possible into YouTube.

So from EyeTV .. how do I export it? I tried H.264 and then tried importing that into iMovie as a Mpeg-4 and it came out crappy. Now I'm exporting it from EyeTV with the iMovie HD settings, which should keep the quality the same going into iMovie as what I recorded. Now, from iMovie (2006 version), what settings should I use to finalize it?

Any help would be appreciated! New to this HD stuff.

this update broke sharing completely. i tried the EyeConnect Uninstall 1.0, but it didn't restore sharing for me. i had to roll back to 3.04 and then run that script.

I had the same problem except I was able to share some things but not all. Rolled it back to 3.04 and sharing is working perfectly.

There seems to be a problem with the new TV guide listings, They do not show the CW network. And in another problem with the listings in Salt Lake City, they do not show the second channel of the Fox network. The problem with this is that Fox here broadcasts in SD on 13.1 and HD on 13.2. So the only way to record in HD on Fox is to select record on the 13.1 channel and change it to 13.2 in the schedule listing. So for me, the new TV guide listings do not work as well as the TitanTV listings which do show these channels correctly.

These channels show up as an ATSC EPG and if I try to change them to TV guide, the required channel does not appear. I have read that TV guide is not listing CW in their magazine, but didn't think it would apply to their online listings. I hope you get these issues worked out before you phase out the Titan service, which I have switched back to.

We want to have details on any such discrepancies so we can report them to TV Guide and they can fix it.

What we need to report it is:
• your zipcode
• which channel lineup you're using
• the station name/number
• what sort of problem it is (channel missing, show times wrong, descriptions missing, etc.)

Please send the details to me in a PM.

Since I upgraded my Mac Mini to EyeTV 3.1 I cannot get rid of the OSX firewall asking if I want to allow EyeConnect.app to accept incoming network connections everytime it is switched on. If I accept the 3 (yes 3) messages when EyeTV runs then all is well until I shut down and switch on. Then the messages reappear. They do not reappear after a system restart.

I have removed sharing, manually added the EyeConnect.app and EyeTV to the firewall but nothing helps.

An suggestions as its driving me mad and I cannot share my library now without confirming 3 messages everytime I boot.

If all else fails I suppose I'll have to go back to 3.0.4.

Kind Regards

Was any attention paid to those of use with multicore machines (mac pros, for instance) and exporting certain recordings? I didn't see anything in the notes and I was hoping for fixes instead of software features being added. Remember us? Us unfortunate souls with the 8-core or 4-core machines? :(

I have a little ask... ...Which really isn't that important... ...But it has been bugging me since I updated... ...In the next update could you change the little red "recording dots" in guide view back to the way they were???... ...In this version they are the same for the shows that are recoding "now" and those that are scheduled to record... ...And they are not as easy to see because of the "3D" effect that has been put on them...

Please bring back the little "clocks" for scheduled shows in guide view... ...and the solid red dot for recording "now"...

And the green tick for recorded shows... ...I'd like that back to the way it was too please...

I fixed this by changing from EPG to DVB and back again... ...It was only happening on a few stations...

Ooh... ...I think I might have found something that could be classed as a bug...

I have Smart Guides set up for a few shows that come on one after another... ...And to save space on my hard drive, (or let me record other shows on other channels), I usually go in and remove the schedule for the second one and extend the schedule for the first one so I get both shows in the one recording... ...Or three or four shows in the one recording...

I've just noticed that after I do that and then click on "Update IceTV Program Guide" (I use IceTV here in Australia) the second program is again added to the schedule... ...And after testing it... ...the second schedule will record... ...Making two recordings for the second show... ...Which then causes conflicts with recordings on other channels and "start/end recording buffers" because it takes up a tuner that I was hoping to use on another channel...

I think this could be classed as a bug because this is the first version of EyeTV where I've ever seen this happen... ...Usually if I extend a recording to cover something in another Smart Guide it just knows that I've done it... ...No extra schedules...

I also had the same problem but I fixed it. Here is how:
1- on the server, toggle "Shared my EyeTV Archive" off, and then back on. Answer positively to the OS prompt.
2- close the EyeTV clients, and open them again. Sharing worked for me after that.

I agree that the new dot styles in 3.1 are harder to differentiate than the old ones.

Since upgrading from 3.04 (b4279) to v3.1 (b4513), my EyeTV Hybrid (EU2008, FW v1.0) shows lower video quality when displaying analog cable television. I see a lot more snow, highlighted egdes and inferior colors. (I could post some pics showing the differences if you're interested.) I use the same preferences, configuration, channel frequencies, etc. Does somebody know a solution for this or can I better stay with v3.04?
